Smartphone flash tool or SP flash tool is a tool used for flashing a Mediatek (MTK) Android phone firmware, formatting a Mediatek Android phone, rooting, and installing custom recoveries. In this post, I'll show the basic steps to follow in flashing a Mediatek Android phone firmware with the SP flash tool.
Warning! Follow the procedures at your own risk. Also, make sure to flash a firmware for your phone model else you will end up with a bricked/dead phone.
Pre-requisites:
- Download SP flash tool
- Install Mediatek VCOM USB Driver Win 7 | Win 8/10
- Stock ROM / Firmware
- MTK (Mediatek) Android phone / Basic phone
- Original USB cable
Procedures to use sp flash tool
Follow the below procedures to use the sp flash tool or watch the below video.
- Extract the stock ROM/firmware and sp flash tool
- Open Sp flash tool folder and launch sp flash tool
- Click the scatter-loading button
- Locate the folder containing the firmware and open the scatter file.
- Choose the Download only button, be careful not to use the Format + download or firmware upgrade option if you're not 100% sure of the firmware you will flash. Click the Download Button.
- Switch off the phone and connect it to the PC.
- If the phone is connected the progress bar will show the firmware flashing process.
- If successful you will the success tick then remove the battery and re-insert before powering up the phone. If the battery is non-removable just press the power key for few seconds to power on the phone.
